Kaija asks: Since the Blessed Mother Mary was born without original sin, did she have free will to say “yes” or “no” to the angel Gabriel? Did she have the option to be disobedient?
The short answer is – YES. Original sin weakens the will and dulls the mind. But like Adam & Eve who had not yet sinned but were able to choose, so was the case with Mary. To be able to love, one must be able to choose.
How grateful we should be to her. Her “yes” to her vocation was the doorway to the Savior of the world! Blessed are you Mary! Thank you dear Mother.
