Dear Parishioners,
Jesus says to us in John chapter 10: Amen, Amen, I say to you, I am the gate for the sheep.” A gate is an opening for the sheep to find pasture, a place of nourishment. For us, the gate is the whole Catholic faith. It is the Church who, with Jesus as the head, is the whole Christ. In the Church as a living organism, we find the way to spiritual nourishment. Imperfect as we are, we are joined with the angels & saints. We are the body of Christ. And each of us receives spiritual food through the whole body of Christ. This means that we likewise feed one another through prayer and through virtue.
As I write this today, I am hoping that we will soon be able to see each other again in Church. Many have shared with me how much they miss having the sacraments celebrated together. To me, this has been a time of fasting. I hope we will soon be feasting. I have prayed frequently each day for all of you. I am looking forward to a happy reunion.
Love,
Fr. Pete
