“Although you have not seen him; even though you do not see him now, yet believe in him, you rejoice with an inexpressible joy…” ⁓1 Peter 1:8-9
I have often tasted this joy described by Saint Peter. I have read how great mystics like Saint Francis, Saint Catherine of Sienna, and Saint Ignatius have felt this joy! Could this joy be a share in God’s Kingdom already here on earth, a taste of the wedding banquet which awaits us?
I believe that even in scary times, we can have a taste of this joy, if we trust God fully. I believe that we can experience this joy even in the midst of great trials. I know people who have. I have tasted this joy.
Yes, our faith might be tested. But, our faith is not just positive thinking. It is rather, entrusting ourselves to God’s infinite healing love!
