Dear Parishioners!
I am preparing, with my staff, for your return on Saturday, May 30th & Sunday, May 31st, PENTECOST SUNDAY! Saturday Mass will be at 5:00 p.m. & Sunday at 11:00 a.m. ONLY, at first. I am publishing the preparations and restrictions in a newsletter and on our website and Facebook page. I am offering one Mass on Sunday for now until we get the feel of the “new normal” or until this pandemic passes. I am encouraging those at high-risk to stay home. There is no obligation to attend. It is hard on many of you to continue to miss Mass however, I believe God’s will would be to put safety first. I have prayed constantly for you. It will be so good to see many of you again even with the required masks. We have an excellent disinfectant (industrial strength) to clean the church. Please maintain the faith and….your social distancing. Please call if you need me or my staff. Also, I have decided to change the time of the weekday Mass. Below you will find my letter to the faithful about this particular decision to change the time of Mass:
Dear Daily Mass Participant,
The time off because of the pandemic has given me time to prayerfully reflect and evaluate. With the consultation of my staff I have decide to move our weekday Mass to 11:00 a.m. I miss all of you! Your participation in our weekday Masses is appreciated; therefore, I hope that you are still able to attend. Several of you have indicated to me that because you are retired, a later Mass time would be appreciated, and it is healthier for me to start a little later as well. Please know that I have and will continue to expand ministries here at St. Eugene. Looking ahead as we gather for our first weekday Mass, Monday, June 1st:
- We will begin scheduling funerals during the 11:00 a.m. weekday Masses, hopefully you are able to come to join the family with your prayerful support.
- When we resume in the Fall, we will gather for our Bible Study before Mass at 9:30-10:45 a.m.
- Also, in the Fall we will celebrate our First Saturday Mass at 10:00 a.m. followed by Faith & Fellowship.
If you have any questions or concerns about our decisions on resuming Masses and life here at St. Eugene, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you. Please remember that there is no obligation to attend Mass, but you do have the opportunity to view our weekend Masses online on our website or our Facebook. We also are giving you the opportunity to view Children’s Liturgy of the Word (virtual workshop) through our website & Facebook thanks to some of our parents, (David Rothfuss, Jennifer Messina & Mary Dotson.)
